Churubusco/Smith Twp. fire units were called to the 5900 block of Timber Lane north of town at approximately 5:00 p.m. Monday evening for a mobile home fire.

Upon arrival it was confirmed that the home was vacant and units quickly entered to find heavy smoke and fire inside the empty building. Thorncreek Township units were called in to assist due to a shortage in personnel and because of the hot weather.

An area resident advised fire and police units that people were seen in the area of the home prior to the fire, but no further information about the subjects was available.

The fire was called under control in approximately 15 minutes, no one was injured.

Whitley County Medic 21 and Churubusco Police units also assisted at the scene. The fire remains under investigation.
