The Churubusco / Smith Twp. Fire Department is seeking volunteers and you just might be it!
Qualities we’re looking for are:
- A desire to help and succeed
- A feeling of connection within the community
- Time commitment
- Energy to be part of a great organization
- Not afraid of a little dirt and/or sweat
Minimum qualifications are:
- 18 years of age or older
- Live within the coverage area (roughly 5-6 miles in either direction from ‘Busco)

Overnight rain caused sever flooding all over northern Indiana, with some of the hardest hit areas northwest of Churubusco. Two children and a male subject are believed to have died in separate incidents due to the flooding.

It started simply enough that morning with a “typical” med run, but as the day went on, Sunday became a very busy and long day for some. A very large grass fire on Crone Road kept Churubusco and Thorncreek fire departments very busy as winds swept the fire across roads and ditches making it difficult for firefighters to get a handle on the situation.
